Mario, Make Me a Model Facts


Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas continues to pave the way for young talent with the sixth “Mario, Make Me a Model” competition.  In partnership with Wella Professionals and supported by contributing partners providing experiences for the contestants, the 2014 program will launch the careers of five finalists and one winner as they strive for success in the modeling industry.

Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 2,000 contestants have come to the open model calls; 26 young women and men have gone through the program as finalists; and nearly all of them have secured contracts as working models appearing in spreads inCS,Michigan Avenue Magazine,Chicago Magazineand on runways all over Chicago, as well as in New York, Milan and Paris.

Through five open model calls throughout Chicagoland and a Semi-Finalist event on a runway five finalists will be chosen by a panel of local celebrity judges to participate in a nine-week program that prepares them for a modeling career.  One winner will be selected after walking the runway in an exclusive fashion show at Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast Communication.


The winner will receive consideration for a modeling contract with Factor Women or Chosen Model Management; all finalists will also be considered for a modeling contract. Since the program’s inception, nearly all of the finalists have gone on to become working models with spreads in CS, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Magazine and have appeared on runways throughout Chicagoland.


Each finalist will receive:

·      Makeover from Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas

·      Runway instruction by Factor Women or Chosen Model Management

·      Personal training with Fitness Formula Clubs

·      Photo shoot with photographer Matt Ferguson for a two-page spread in Michigan Avenue magazine

·      Three-year subscription to Michigan Avenue magazine

·      Appearance in TV commercials on CBS2 Chicago

·      A walk down the runway in a major fashion show on May 16, 2014

In addition to prizes listed above, the winner will receive:               

·      A five-night Apple Vacations trip for two to Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun, Mexico. The package includes meals and drinks at the resort, round-trip airfare and limousine transportation to O’Hare airport.

·      One-year membership to Fitness Formula Clubs

·      $500 in COSE™ cosmetics from Mario Tricoci


·      Men and women age 16 and older

·      Entrants are ineligible if currently signed with a modeling agency

About Mario Make Me a Model

Mario, Make Me a Model is the Midwest’s preeminent fashion event launching careers; inspiring young people and supporting Chicago’s fashion industry by identifying emerging talent, creating experiences and opening doors to opportunity. The program has launched the careers of young talent who have worked with virtually every Chicago-based periodical as well as New Beauty magazine, Neiman Marcus, Home Shopping Network, Nordstrom, Glossed & Found and Def Jam Records among others.  Several have gone on to agencies in New York, Paris and Milan and still others have appeared in national television commercials including Carson’s and Southwest Airlines.
